Kyla earned both an Associate of Arts and Associate of Science from Rend Lake College in 2005 while playing for the Lady Warrior basketball team. In 2007, she obtained her B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Sociology from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She completed her Master of Public Administration from SIUC in 2009. While working on her MPA, Kyla worked with the Southern Illinois Mayors' Association as a graduate assistant.
