Born in Panama, Central America raised since the 2nd grade in San Francisco. I have lived in many places including Canada and Germany. In Germany I work a year for
American Red Cross as Chair person of all the volunteers in Wiesbaden. This included hospital, nurses, emergency resources, fund raising, community volunteers.
I have two Master’s Degrees, one in Education and the other is a MSW. With my husband we have started a non-profit here in Murphysboro, Illinois. It is called Supporting People In Need (SPIN).
The mission for SPIN is; helping those who have losses due to fires, tornadoes, floods, homelessness, and all other disasters beyond ones control. This is achieved by providing
the elderly, disabled, homeless, and needy people of Southern Illinois with clothing, household items, assistant needs equipment, etc. as well as providing referrals to other agencies.
Future plans include offering counseling, as needed, and creating a job skills computer education program along with computer classes for older adults. Long term goals include opening a homeless shelter.
