Please take a look at our various community service programs below, and feel free to contact us at 1 800 728 1523 if you have any questions.
Organizing
ICCS assists in indentifying needs, assessing strengths, and organizing volunteers. All our efforts strive to assist in the development of “sustainable” organizations. The ICCS Community Organizing approach works because local residents, the people who know the most about the community, are actively involved in finding solutions to improve their neighborhoods and provide a healthy environment to live and grow. Some services include:
- Economic Development
- Community Development
- Community Assessment
- Volunteer Recruitment/Retention
- Developing Recreational Activities
Education
ICCS provides capacity building and one-one-one assistance to non-profit, faith-based, or community organizations. Potential training topics include:
- Board Development
- Fundraising
- Grant Writing
- Marketing
- Obtaining 501 (c) (3)
- Strategic Planning
Advocacy
To bring about change, ICCS works with residents to uncover social injustices and document the circumstances creating these conditions in order to influence decision-makers. A recent example includes our work with the Illinois Commission on the Elimination of Poverty. Click here to learn more about Commission’s recommendations.
Youth Services
In 2009, the Illinois poverty rate of children 18 and under was 18.4%, up from 16.8% in 2008. Studies by the National Service Learning Clearinghouse show that youth involved in out-of-school youth programs exhibit improved academic achievement, improved social behavior, and stronger ties to the community. ICCS is involved in the following youth centered programs:
- Summer Food Programs
- After-School Programs
- Mentoring
- Service Learning Projects
